WIDER COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We are just one small part of a much broader community that is committed to  serving those in need of support. As a church whānau, we are thankful for the  opportunity to collaborate with a variety of organisations to make a positive  impact. These partnerships allow us to extend our reach and provide practical  help to those who need it most.

Vincent House (and Mind+)

Our church has a long and meaningful history with Vincent  House, having played a key role in helping to establish the  Vincent House Trust many years ago. What began as a step of  faith to care for vulnerable members of our community has  grown into a vital ministry that continues to impact lives today.

Vincent House provides mental health and wellbeing services for the wider Te  Puke area, offering residential support, vocational training, and pathways toward  greater independence and wholeness. As a church, we are privileged to continue  supporting their mission by providing pastoral care, spiritual support, and  friendship to residents and staff alike.

This partnership reflects our heart to see people flourish, spiritually, emotionally,  and practically. We believe the love of Jesus brings healing and hope, and we're  honoured to share in the work of Vincent House as they extend that hope to  those who need it most.

Evergreen House

More than 20 years ago, Te Puke Baptist Church purchased 8 George Street,
which has since been used to house people from our local community.

In 2020, a team from TPBC was formed to explore how this land could best
serve our community today. After seeking God and consulting with the
community, a vision was born: to help meet Te Puke’s urgent need for quality,
affordable and accessible housing (particularly for the elderly and/or those
living with mobility challenges). A charitable trust was set up named the Jabez
Initiative to spearhead the project.

During 2024-5, these units were constructed, completing Evergreen House, a
six-unit Community Housing Initiative located right next to the church. These
warm, modern homes will offer safe, independent living for older residents in
our town.

The Jabez Initiative are partnering with Tauranga Community Housing Trust
(TCHT) as a part of this project. TCHT are responsible for tenancy
arrangements, and we’ll provide wrap-around support for the tenants as we’re
able, and is needed.
